RV Shop Rental TermsTerms & Conditions All hires are subject to the Terms of Hire stated below. Note that all rates quoted are in New Zealand Dollars. Included in your daily rate
The hirer and each additional driver must be over 25 years of age and must produce a full, valid driver's licence at the start of the hire. New Zealand recognises driver's licences issued by your own country, as well as International Drivers Licences. If the driver’s licence is not in the English language then an International Driver’s Licence is also required. An accredited English translation will be accepted in lieu of an international driving permit. For drivers over 75 years of age, a current medical certificate is also required. Additional Driver fees
No extra fees apply for additional drivers. Hire Period The minimum rental period for all vehicles is 5 days. Between 16 December and 10 January a minimum rental period of 7 days applies. Note that minimum rental periods also apply during peak periods and for off-site collections/returns. Rates are charged per calendar day (not on a 24-hour basis). The day of pick up (collection) is calculated as one day, as well as the day of drop off (return). Collection and return times must be within business hours, unless prior arrangements have been made. If a vehicle is returned later than the agreed time on the final hire day you will be charged an additional day's hire. If you extend the hire without prior permission from RV Rentals, each additional day that the vehicle is not returned, will be charged at a full day's hire rate with an additional $50.00 dollar penalty per day.
NOTE: No refund is due for the late collection or early return of the vehicle. Bookings and Deposits
The deposit is due at the time of booking, in order to secure the requested dates of hire. The deposit is to be 20% of the total hire amount or $200.00, whichever is the greater value. For hires starting from 16th December to 10th January the balance is due 30 days prior to the vehicle collection date. For hires commencing outside of the Christmas/New Year season, the balance is due 14 days prior to the start of the hire. For bookings made 14 days or less prior to the pick up date, the full payment is required at the time of booking, and the payment is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Payments
We accept payments via EFTPOS, Cash, Direct Credit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Qcard, Farmlands and Farmers Finance Card. A non-refundable surcharge of 4.5% will apply to any of these card transactions, except 2.5% for Qcard and Farmers Card transactions and 2% for Visa and MasterCard transactions. Booking Amendments
No refund will be given if the hire is shortened within 14 days of collection. Changes are subject to availability. Any additional days will be calculated at our standard daily hire rate. Cancellation Policy
If your confirmed booking is cancelled more than 14 days prior to the collection date, RV Rentals will refund 50% of your payment. The payment is forfeited if bookings are cancelled within 14 days of the collection date (departure). No refund is due for the late collection or early return of the vehicle. Insurance and Liability
You are fully insured in case of accident damage or loss of fixed vehicle contents (excluding personal belongings). However, you are responsible for the amount of the applicable liability/excess for damage to the vehicle or to third party property. The liability/excess applies to each claim/vehicle. The liability/excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident is reported to RV Rentals, not on return of the vehicle. RV Rentals reserves the right to charge you for any damage to the vehicle, including Third Party property damage which is not reported at the time of the incident but which is identified on return of the vehicle. Standard Insurance This is included in the daily rental rate. The Excess/Bond is $4500.00. Optional - Excess Reduction 1
$30.00 per day. This reduces your Excess/Bond to $2500.00. Optional - Excess Reduction 2
$40.00 per day. This reduces your Excess/Bond to $1000.00. The charges for Excess Option 1 and Excess Option 2 are capped at 50 days. NOTE: We recommend that you have personal travel insurance while travelling. IMPORTANT: Please note that all awning damage is at the hirer’s expense and is not covered under any insurance, including the Excess Reduction 1 and Excess Reduction 2. Excess / Bond
A Vehicle Security/Bond is due when you collect your vehicle. This is the excess refundable should there be no damage to the vehicle and if the vehicle is in a reasonable state of cleanliness when returned to RV Rentals. The credit card holder must be present to sign for the Vehicle Security/Bond at the time of pick up. Note: The chosen Excess/Bond amount will be secured as an authority against your credit card. You therefore give us the authority to deduct this amount in the event of damage, an accident or traffic infringement. The authority for the Excess/Bond is to be released after the full inspection of the vehicle, and could take up to 10 working days. Where a Credit Card is not available, a cash bond will be payable and will be refunded within 7 working days to the customer’s bank account. Please note that Debit Cards are not accepted as Security. The credit card holder must be present at the time of vehicle collection. Cleaning Vehicles must be returned in a reasonable state of cleanliness. This includes emptying and cleaning of the toilet cassette and bowl, and the cleaning of the BBQ (where applicable) and clean upholstery. If, on the termination of the hire, we deem the vehicle to be in an unclean state, a minimum cleaning fee of $150.00 will apply. If more than 4 hours is spent cleaning the vehicle, additional fees of $30 per hour will apply. Additional charges may also be liable in regards to smoking and pets, which are strictly prohibited in the vehicle. Fuel
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel at the start of hire, and must be returned
with a full tank at the end of your hire, otherwise a re-fueling fee of NZD $80 will apply plus the cost of the fuel. Driving/Camping Infringements
RV Rentals reserves the right to charge the hirer for any speeding or parking fines, or camping infringements, associated administration costs and/or accidents, including Third Party property damage which has not been reported on the return of the vehicle. The administration fee per fine is $60.00. This is in addition to the cost of the fine. Toll Roads If you have passed through any Toll Roads during your hire, please advise us on the return of the vehicle. The amount owing is payable to RV Rentals. Road Restrictions RV Rental vehicles must not be driven on the roads listed below, as they are not covered by insurance when travelling on the following roads:
One way rentals are at the discretion of RV Rentals. LPG
Gas bottles are supplied full at the time of collection of the vehicle. You are not required to fill the gas bottles before returning the vehicle. Child Restraints All children aged seven years and younger must travel in an approved child restraint. It is the customer’s responsibility to fit the child restraints in the vehicle. Ferry Reservations
When making ferry crossing bookings, we suggest that you book 7.5m, regardless as to the size of the vehicle, to avoid complications due to possible vehicle upgrades. Change of Vehicle
In the event that the rental vehicle has to change for unforeseen circumstances, RV Rentals reserves the right to replace it with an alternative vehicle without notification and at no extra cost. This will not be in breach of our contract and will not entitle the hirer to a refund. Voluntary Downgrade
You will not be entitled to any refund if you decide to downgrade your vehicle within 14 days of the first day of hire. Pets/animals
Pets/animals are not permitted in the vehicles. Only service dogs are permitted - prior permission from RV Rentals must be obtained. Note: Pet/animal decontamination will be charged at $50/hour in addition to an initial fee of $250.00. Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all of our vehicles. If not adhered to, a fee of $150.00 will apply. Optional Extras (subject to availability – must be pre-booked)

Should you require assistance, please call the AA Nationwide 24-hour free call helpline. Call 0800 734 543, quoting the vehicle registration and ‘Cruisy Campers’. If you incur any minor repair bills we will give you a refund (up to $100), unless the damage is caused by the hirer. Just produce receipts when you return the vehicle. If major repairs are needed, protect yourself by getting RV Rentals to authorise it first. Note: In the event of a non-mechanical call-out, the driver will incur a call-out fee payable to the AA when logging the call (flat tyre, keys locked inside the vehicle, out of fuel or batteries gone flat due to incorrect usage etc). In the event of a mechanical issue, please log your call with the AA and also call RV Rentals for authorisation (engine or transmission issues etc). Breakdowns Any mechanical problems associated with the vehicle must be reported to RV Rentals as soon as possible, in order to give RV Rentals the opportunity to resolve the problem during the rental period. Equipment failure must also be reported to RV Rentals. If RV Rentals is either not contacted or you do not allow RV Rentals the opportunity to resolve the problem during the hire period, you agree that the problem is of such a minor nature that you make no claim for loss of time in respect of the hire period.
You also agree that RV Rentals is not responsible for any claims made by you after the return of the vehicle. You will be charged a fee where it is established that Roadside Assistance could have been avoided in cases such as keys being locked in the vehicle, flat batteries caused by lights having been left on and other such similar occurrences. Accidents In the event of an accident, regardless of how minor the accident, you will need to notify RV Rentals as soon as practicably possible or within 24 hours. You can do this by calling the number on your vehicle’s key tag. RV Rentals will then advise you of the next steps. No matter how small the event is, you still need to report it to RV Rentals.
Depending on the Liability Reduction option which you chose to take for your hire, RV Rentals may retain your bond in the event of an accident, whether your fault or not, and collect another bond for any additional damages that may occur throughout the remainder of the hire. Repairs Any repair up to $100 requires no authorisation from RV Rentals, and all that is necessary for full reimbursement to you from RV Rentals is a proper receipt for the amount of the repairs. If the repair is more than $100, then you must notify RV Rentals and obtain RV Rentals’ consent before the repairs are carried out. If the vehicle cannot be driven as a result of a breakdown, RV Rentals will only reimburse you for the time that the vehicle was not available for use. Subject to availability, RV Rentals will provide a replacement vehicle. Any costs incurred in your travelling to RV Rentals is your responsibility. The failure of accessories such as air conditioners, awnings, televisions, microwaves, stove and grill, water pump, camping kit items, shower and toilet, refrigerators and radios/CD/DVD players are not considered a breakdown and no amount will be paid by RV Rentals to you. RV Rentals is not responsible for any accommodation charges, meals, change of itinerary or out of pocket expenses resulting from a breakdown of the vehicle or as a result of any accident. Note: It can often be difficult to carry out repairs during weekends and holiday periods and/or in remote areas, due to limited opening times and/or spare parts. Tyres/Windscreens Any damage to tyres or windscreens requiring repairs or replacement must be reported to RV Rentals immediately and authorization obtained before tyres or windscreens can be replaced. Please ensure you maintain the correct tyre pressures (65PSI). Only purchase new steel radial tyres of the same size and ply-rating as is on the vehicle. If you purchase tyres of a different size or ply-rating RV Rentals will not refund you. Windscreen replacements are covered in your insurance. Exclusions The following exclusions apply to your Insurance:
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. If you encounter issues with the vehicle whilst on hire, you MUST report these issues directly to the relevant supplier at the earliest possible time. This will allow the supplier to remedy any issues and minimise any inconvenience to you. If you fail to report any vehicle issues during your rental, it is likely that compensation will not be offered. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 2% credit card or debit card surcharge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency): 25.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
